About
Each Texas Science Festival offers opportunities to explore demos, take tours, meet leading scientists and learn about the natural world.
Texas-Sized Impact & Big Science Fun
The University of Texas at Austin and its College of Natural Sciences offer live and virtual programming to bring together scientists, science-inspired artists and people who delight in the natural world and in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics).
Participants have attended live and virtual events since 2021.
Campus and community partners have hosted science festival events.
Presenters have won Nobel Prizes, Guggenheim Awards, MacArthur Fellowships and/or induction in the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
Partners in Discovery
The Texas Science Festival began virtually in early spring 2021 as an opportunity to bring Texans together with scientists and science alumni from The University of Texas at Austin. In later years, the festival expanded with partners across campus and the community offering live events, as well as virtual ones, in the broader Central Texas and Texas Gulf Coast communities.
Accessible for All
The vast majority of festival events are free and open to the public, and our aim is to make science accessible. Events requiring tickets or advanced registration are clearly labeled on the event descriptions on this website. You can help us keep the festival affordable and accessible for all by supporting our work.
What Goes On
Festival participants enjoy new programming each year. Recent highlights have included:
- discussions on pressing global topics such as new trends with AI, aging over the lifespan, innovations in energy and more;
- demonstrations, shows and hands-on learning for all ages, including at the largest on-campus STEM-focused community event of the year, STEM Girl Day;
- after-hours “nights out” on the town for enjoying science and science-inspired art, performance and film with friends and loved ones.
