Which events have a cost to attend?
Most events are free of charge, but ticket purchase is required for film screenings and the student-organized TEDxUTAustin. Discount codes are available for festival goers.
What else should I know about participating?
Is the Texas Science Festival open to everyone?
The Texas Science Festival is open to all. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. One venue limits attendees to 21+. Check the audience on each event for details.
Is there a cost to attend?
Most festival events are no-cost and open to the public. For some programs, where noted, there is a cost to purchase an admission ticket. Please click the “Purchase Tickets” button within the event description to confirm your attendance.
Some aspects of attendance at live events, such as parking, may require additional fees.
How do I secure my spot to attend?
Review the schedule, and add events you are interested in attending to your calendar – you can find links to do so under “Subscribe” on each listed event. Most events are first-come, first-served, but some require an additional registration step or even a ticket. These are noted on this page and in the event description.

What is a hybrid event?
Hybrid events are formatted for both in-person and virtual (online) attendance. If the event requires registration, make sure you register for in person if you want to attend the live event (usually in Austin) and for virtual if you plan to join online. Read the schedule and registration options carefully for details about attendance in each format.
How do I request accommodations?
The University of Texas at Austin is committed to providing access to all our events. All virtual programs are automatically captioned. For additional requests (e.g., sign language interpreters, alternative formats) email sciencefest@utexas.edu. Please include your name, the nature of your request, program(s) you are attending, date(s) and time(s). Please provide advance notice of at least two weeks to ensure arrangements are in place.
Further details about accessibility can be found on this web page.
What does it mean that some events have registration or ticket links in the description?
These specific programs require registration (which is often free) or purchase of a ticket to attend. Please click the “Register” or “Purchase Tickets” button in the event description to sign up for these events.
Do I have to have a Zoom account to participate in events that are virtual?
How long are the events?
Event durations vary. Times are indicated in the event details.
I’m not able to attend a session, but I’m really interested in the content. Is there a way to get a recording?
We encourage you to attend during the session to get the most out of the experience, including Q&A with speakers in many cases. Virtual events and some hybrid events will be recorded and archived on the Texas Science YouTube page.
Can I invite others to join me for this event?
You bet! Social media and email links to help you spread the word are available under “Share” on each calendar entry.
Is there a contact email address?
Yes. General inquiries may be sent over email to sciencefest@utexas.edu.
Where is this happening, and where do I park?
Addresses and relevant parking information are on session event descriptions. Find details about accessible parking on our accessibility page.
I can't make it to the festival, but I'm interested in opportunities like this at other times. How can I stay in the loop?
