The Texas Science Festival and The University of Texas at Austin are committed to providing universal access to all our events. 

Accommodations Requests

To make a request, please follow this guidance:

    Email sciencefest@utexas.edu and include your name, the nature of your request (sign language interpreters, alternative formats, etc.), events(s) you are attending, date(s) and time(s).

    Please provide advance notice of at least two (2) weeks to ensure arrangements are in place. Last-minute requests cannot be guaranteed, though attempts will always be made to secure services.


Venue Details

Visit the links below to find details, including the closest visitor parking, for specific festival venues on the main UT Austin campus. 

(HMA) Hogg Memorial Auditorium: ADA accessible parking is available on a first come, first serve basis directly in front of HMA for vehicles displaying a valid ADA placard. Accessible restrooms are located in the lobby. Upon arrival, connect with event or venue staff for assistance with accessible seating.

Wheelchair Access

  • All buildings hosting Texas Science Festival events and programs are wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms.

Off-Campus Venue Information

  • Austin Film Society Cinema: AFS Cinema offers closed captioning devices on select films and enhanced audio headphones for all films. Contact boxoffice@austinfilm.org up to 72 hours prior to a screening to confirm availability.
  • Barrel O' Fun in the Alamo Drafthouse Mueller has wheelchair accessible seating, parking, restrooms and entrances. Assisted listening devices are available upon request.
  • Brackenridge Field Lab: BFL's buildings are wheelchair accessible, and most wheelchairs can travel along the paved roads throughout the field station campus. Please call (512) 471-2114 for specifics regarding BFL accessibility.
  • Celis Brewery: Celis Brewery offers accessible parking spaces. The main tasting room and restrooms are designed to be wheelchair accessible.  
  • C.L. Butaud Tasting Room: There is an accessible ramp to access the building. The closest garage-style entry doors may be closed during cold or inclement weather. Notify staff at (512) 553-5701, and they will provide access.
  • Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center: The Wildflower Center’s Central Complex, Central Gardens, and Luci and Ian Family Garden are wheelchair accessible. The Texas Arboretum trail is also wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking spaces are available, and guests may borrow wheelchairs at no charge from the Admissions Kiosk. If you have any questions, please contact us at 512.232.0100.
  • The Long Center
  • UT Marine Science Institute: UTMSI offers on-site parking, including ADA parking for vehicles with a valid ADA placard. The facility is also equipped with accessible restrooms and ADA-compliant trails.

UT Campus Parking for Visitors with Disabilities

Captioning, Sign-Language & CART

Virtual and hybrid events will all be automatically captioned. 

Sign-Language Interpreting or CART Service Requests

For live events, the Texas Science Festival will arrange for sign language interpreting or CART services for deaf or hard of hearing attendees with notice at least two (2) weeks in advance of the requested date of service. Last-minute requests cannot be guaranteed, though attempts will always be made to secure interpreting/captioning services.
