Hear an in-depth research talk probing a future with digital cognitive prosthetics: smart phones used to aid in regaining memories or personal-assistant apps to supplement the work of caregivers.

Description

Digital technologies, like social media and websites, increasingly shape daily life for people of all ages, including older adults. Join us to hear how digital daily tasks both present barriers for older adults and introduce practical new ways forward for functioning in the real world. Learn what a generation of digital pioneers has taught us about the promise and perils of using technology for cognitive functioning.

The Texas Aging & Longevity Consortium (TALC) presents the UT Excellence in Research on Aging Award each year to one scholar who is pushing the field in new directions with promising research findings to improve the health of adults in late life.

The 2025 winner, Jared Benge is a UT neurologist with an internationally acclaimed research agenda addressing the role of technologies in improving older adults’ lives. His public talk will present this research accessibly for a wide audience.
