Description

Sprouts seminar speaker Sandra Van den Berg, a professor of behavioral science and health promotion at UT Health and associate director of the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living, will deliver a talk based on her decades of research, including on the impact of school gardens and food as medicine. Her talk, “Growing Healthy Futures: The Impact of School Gardens on Children’s Well-Being,” will be followed with a presentation of the winners of new Sprouts fellowships for current UT undergraduate and graduate students working in the field of nutrition and school gardens.

Alexandra van den Berg is a professor in Behavioral Science and Health Promotion at the UT Health Houston School of Public Health and associate director of the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living. Her research program is focused on health disparities related to limited access to healthful foods.
