As artificial intelligence technologies are increasingly at our fingertips, we’re expanding our notions of how we can lead change, help others and create new opportunities. In this talk with Peter Stone, professor of computer science, and Kenneth R. Fleischmann, professor in the UT School of Information, participants will learn how UT Austin is equipping the next generation of leaders to use AI tools responsibly in their work, research and lives through innovative, interdisciplinary approaches. Hear about the university-wide research grand challenge focused on AI ethics, Good Systems, courses like “The Essentials of AI for Life and Society,” the NSF Research Traineeship Program in Ethical AI and the new undergraduate honors program in robotics. 


Kenneth Fleischmann

Kenneth Fleischmann is a professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the UT’s School of Information and the founding chair and chair-elect of UT Good Systems. His research and teaching focus on the ethics of AI and the role of human values in the design and use of information technologies.

Peter Stone

Peter Stone is a Distinguished Teaching Professor, Truchard Foundation Chair in Computer Science, Director of Texas Robotics and founding member of UT’s Good Systems executive team. He is also Chief Scientist at Sony AI. Stone’s research interests include machine learning, multiagent systems and robotics.
